U15s - Barnsley Vs Leodiensians

BARNSLEY U15`s 37 V LEODIENSIANS 5

Barnsley U15's played their first home game of the season and overcame a spirited Leodensians side by 37 - 5.

Straight from the kick off the Shaw Lane side demonstrated their intent to play an open, entertaining style of rugby. The ball was caught, fed to fly half Josh Lewis, who found winger Joe Maycroft in support and he crossed for the first try.

The second soon followed with Kane Feek crashing over following a superb catch and drive from a line out.
It wasn't all plain sailing however, and Leos scored a well worked try after picking the ball up from the base of a ruck.

Barnsley then took control of the game with Joe Maycroft ghosting in for his second try after the front five pressured Leos from a five metre scrum.

Kane Feek then grabbed his second try following a neat interpassing move which combined both backs and forwards. He hammered into the Leos defence who were left reeling by his powerful run.

The second half started off in similar vane to the first with Barnsley showing some excellent ball handling and Aidan Tallant crashed over after spinning out of a tackle.

The ever alert Sam Moss then added Barnsley's sixth try when he pinched the ball from an opposition line out, and scored wide out.

The final score for the Shaw Lane side was spectacularly finished by Jordan Fletcher who stormed through the Leo back line leaving three tacklers in his wake, before touching down under the posts. Josh Lewis added the conversion.

The man of the match award proved to be a difficult decision for the referee after such an improved team performance, and it was awarded jointly to Josh Lewis and Tom Henighan. Special thanks must go to Liam Roebuck and Joe Moorhouse who volunteered to play for Leos after they were reduced to 13 men following injuries to two of the opposition backs.
