U15s - Barnsley Vs Malton and Norton

Barnsley U15's v Malton & Norton U15`s

Barnsley U15's thrilled an appreciative Shaw Lane crowd with a thoroughly entertaining display in the autumn sunshine, and came away with a 57-15 victory against a well drilled Malton & Norton outfit. The visitors scored very early in the first half following some impressive rucking, and this seemed to kick start the Shaw Lane side.

Full back Greg Cranston picked the ball up just inside the opponent's half and used his deceptive long stride to scythe his way through the entire defence and Dominic Barrow added the conversion.

The N. Yorkshire side signaled their intent straight from the restart and added a second score after some neat interpassing.

Barnsley then took control of the game with Joe Maycroft scoring wide out and Adam Parr crossing the line following some excellent ball handling. Dominic Barrow again added the conversion.

Joe Maycroft grabbed a second try which resulted from pressure being applied by the pack and quick thinking from centre Adam Parr who used his footballing skills to good effect.

Fly half Josh Lewis then looked to have taken the more difficult route to the try line with an overlap outside him, but he duly cut inside and managed to squeeze over for a well taken score.

Captain Dominic Barrow then used his experience to cut through the defence and scored wide out. He also converted his own try.

Next on the score sheet was Tom Henighan who picked up from the base of a scrum and showed blistering pace to outrun the Malton and Norton back line from 40 metres out. Josh Lewis added the conversion.

Second rows aren't normally renowned for their side-steps, but Dominic Barrow sent the whole of the defensive line the wrong way as he strode in for his second score.

Barnsley seem to be getting in to the habit of leaving the best until last, and the ninth try was finished by Josh Lewis, following a breathtaking 60 metre move involving both backs and forwards.

The man of the match was a difficult decision for the opposition coach, after such an all round team performance, but he awarded it to Natt Tuttiett who had an excellent game at scrum half.
