U15s - Barnsley Vs Mosbrough

Barnsley U15’s 58 – Mosbrough U15’s 0

Barnsley U15’s entertained Sheffield side Mosbrough in a pre-Bonfire night encounter, and produced an explosive ten try display of open rugby to end up winners by 58 to 0.

The first try came after a bustling run by Matthew Potts, who slipped the ball outside to the impressive Joe Maycroft. The winger then used his long stride to out–pace the Mosbrough defence and score wide out.

Adam Parr was next on the score sheet following a typical jinking run by Joe Blaney. The winger danced round three defenders before shipping the ball down the back line and the centre finished well under the posts.

Josh Lewis then used his blistering pace to carve through the Mosbrough forwards and provide Adam Parr with his second try of the day. The fly half then duly added the conversion.

The final try of the first half was a fine individual effort from Joe Maycroft. He received the ball on the half way line and then proceeded to carve through the Mosbrough centres, winger and full back to score in the corner.

Not to be outdone, Adam Parr completed his hat-trick by slipping his way past the same set of defenders at the start of the second half, and slid in under the posts. Josh Lewis added the conversion.

Joe Maycroft then finished his hat-trick in style, after a lovely flowing move by the backs. He picked the ball wide out and rounded the winger to score in the corner.

Fly half Josh Lewis quickly turned defence into attack for the seventh try of the day. He spotted the full back out of position, chipped the ball forward, gathered neatly and finished under the posts. He then converted his own try.
Fullback Greg Cranston was on hand to complete another excellent backs move to touch down in the corner for number eight.

Blake Marsland-Gray showed his versatility by playing centre in the final quarter, and powered his way over following an excellent move by Luke Denton. The diminutive winger sent the whole of the Mosbrough defence the wrong way after he cut inside, and then off-loaded to the Barnsley centre who made no mistake with the finish.

The forwards finally got on the score sheet when man of the match Matthew Potts rocketed in under the posts after a great run by Blake Marsland-Gray.
‘Pottsy’ then drop kicked the conversion under instruction from the referee (but
against parental advice from the touch-line).

Finally, credit must go to the Mosbrough side who never gave in, and tackled well throughout the whole match.
